From Delhi, take National Highway 24. If you cross Ghaziabad by 8 am, you will be able to save around an hour of driving time. Then it should take you about three hours to reach the Moradabad bypass, after you have passed through Hapur bypass, Garh Mukteshwar and Gajraula.
After the Moradabad bypass, you can take either of the following routes to reach Ek Chidiya:
Route 1 (Via Nainital) – 360 km, less highway traffic
After you cross the Moradabad bypass, take the U-turn for Jim Corbett National Park. Now you have left the National Highway and are on the road towards Kashipur. The U-turn, in a way, takes you back parallel to the National Highway for a kilometer or so and then turns to the right.
Take the right turn and look for the overhead signboard for Nainital, which appears after a few minutes. From here, you take another right turn and hit the road that takes you through Tanda, Bazpur and Kaladhungi.
As soon as you reach Kaladhungi, take the left turn and towards Nainital.
When you reach Nainital, you go along the lake on Mall Road and look for the Army Holiday Home on your left. Soon after this, you have to take the small left turn to Bhowali.
At the roundabout at Bhowali, you have to take the right turn for Ramgarh/Bhimtal.
We, however, suggest that you take a detour, and tank up your vehicle here because this is the last fuel station on way to Nathuakhan. To reach the petrol station, you have to take a left turn from the roundabout.
Once you are on the road to Ramgarh, you cross the market and see a children’s park on your left. Now look out for a small bridge on your left (with a small signboard that says ‘Satkhol Ashram’) and take the left turn on it.
You are now on the road to Malla Ramgarh.
After Malla Ramgarh, you start a downhill drive. After descending for about five minutes, look for the overhead signboard for Nathuakhan. You have to take the road that goes downhill on your left (the one going up leads to Mukteshwar), and continue towards Talla Ramgarh.
Cross the iron bridge over the stream at Talla Ramgarh. Now the road goes uphill again. After driving for around 20-25 minutes, you will reach Nathuakhan market. Keep an eye on your right, and you will see a concrete gateway. Take the right turn from under this gate.
You are now on a motorable dirt (kachcha) road. Continue on this track as it veers up and down. After about 2 km, you will reach the bend on which Ek Chidiya is located.
Welcome!
Route 2 (Via Bhimtal) – 344 km, more highway traffic
You continue on the Moradabad bypass and cross Rampur and Rudrapur to reach Haldwani, and then Kathgodam.
You now start the uphill drive and after a short drive, take the right turn towards Bhimtal.
Cross Bhimtal, driving past the lake on your right, and continue on the road towards Bhowali. Just on the outskirts of Bhimtal town is a petrol station, which will fall on your right. We suggest you tank up the vehicle here, if required, because this is the last fuel station on the way to Nathuakhan.
Soon after you enter Bhowali, you reach a forked road. Take the sharp U-turn and continue on the road going down. Now look out for a small bridge on your right (with a small signboard that says ‘Satkhol Ashram’) and take the right turn on it.
